Kayley's Solo Show in Brooklyn, NY

Donation protected

I am excited to share that I have the opportunity to have a solo exhibition at Disclaimer Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.

LUMPY, DUMPY & GRUMPY
July 6-31, 2017
Opening Reception: Thursday, July 6, 5-7pm
Closing Reception: Saturday, July 29 2-6pm

This space is curated collectively by Sessa Englund, O.K. Fox, Sarah Wang, Shaina Yang, Zaria Poem, and JinHee Kwak. They are sustaining a gallery located in Silent Barn. Disclaimer Gallery is a vivid expression of the experimental and non-hierarchical nature of the Silent Barn. As a group, the curators are devoted to valuing representation, accessibility and fighting dominant power structures with in the art world.

Here is where I need your help!!!!!
I will be making a site specific installation.  It makes the most sense for me to buy and collect materials while I am in NY. Here are some materials that this funding will go towards
-300 lbs of plaster (50lb bags)
-dye pigments
-cement pigments
-lumber
-hardware
-reused and recycled materials (these are materials that are baught at a very low cost and have been resalvaged)
-trasportation of reused and recycled materials
- plastic sheeting
-nylon fabric and sewing materials
-printing costs for show ephemera

I will be staying with family upstate as well as friends and family in the city.  Due to their generosity, I won't have to pay for housing during this time but I need funding for transportation and groceries.

On June 16th I will be achieving a long term goal, Graduating with a  Masters of Fine Arts!

I have made a ton of work in my two years of studio access.  I need funding for storage and shipment of multiple selected works I will be holding on to in order to continue to exhibit and promote my work in the art maket.

I recently had a my graduate exhibition at Littman Gallery here in Portland where I am attending Portland State University .  If you didnt make it check out the documentation on my website .

I have also been experiencing an interest from press to share my story as an artist living with metestatic breast cancer.  My work embodies my human experience and has been a helpful outlet in radicalizing my personal history with health. Check out my profile with The Oregonian and KOIN 6 . There are more to come and I will keep you all updated by posting here...

With the press and the excitement of re-entering the NY art scene, I want to make this show a sucess that will launch me into my next chapter!!

During the time of the show I will be making myself available for gallery hours as I reach out to curators, collectors and art writers and reviewers.  I will also be spending a lot of time applying and interviewing for jobs. This is a really important transition for me to be able to take the time I need to find a job that that will support and sustain my arts practice and health costs.

Can not wait to see you all there as well!!  Thank you in advanced for your support!

THANK YOU FOR BELIEVEING IN AND SUPPORTING MY DREAMS!!!! I can not be more greatful for the support.
