Kaylee's Korner: Round Two

It is with a heavy heart that I'm reaching out to you all in regards to one of my nearest and dearest best friends. My friend Kaylee Fogarty was recently diagnosed with Stage Two Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She was initially diagnosed on March 17, 2015 with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and after successful chemo treatment went into remission in September 2015... that is until now. Unfortunately her most recent check-up in May 2017 revealed a lump under her arm which led the doctors to perform a PET scan which showed masses in her chest (original site) and under her arm; a biopsy then confirmed their findings that her cancer has unfortunately returned. After meeting with her doctors they have come up with an aggressive treatment plan which involves ICE chemo, a stem cell transplant and possibly following up with radiation dependent on the success of her her chemotherapy and the stem cell transplant. Her ICE chemo will mean she must stay in the hospital while she receives treatment for three days at a time every three weeks so the doctors will be able to closely monitor her as she is at a higher risk of infection. Upon completion of chemotherapy, around 4 to 6 weeks later, she will begin preparing for her stem cell transplant. The doctors will be utilizing her own stem cells in this process and are hopeful the transplant will help produce healthy, new blood cells. During her stem cell transplant she must stay in the hospital for three weeks since her immune system will be non-existent. Should the chemotherapy and stem cell transplant not thoroughly treat her condition then the doctors will pursue radiation treatments. It is my hope that we can all band together and help raise money for Kaylee so she can focus on getting better as opposed to being bogged down with certain financial burdens and stresses. The money we raise will help Kaylee with the hefty medical expenses she is bound to incur during this trying time. Unfortunately she is in no position to work right now seeing as how her treatment will leave her in a constant state of exhaustion and will take a great toll on her body. I ask you to please open your hearts and help me in supporting Kaylee as she embarks on yet another difficult cancer journey; whether you show your support financially, spiritually or emotionally - every bit helps. Kaylee is truly one of the best and most genuine people I have ever met and she is also, by far, one of the strongest. She has beat cancer once before and I am a firm believer that her strength and the power of God will aid her in beating cancer once again. Here's to Kaylee and her non-stop fight! We all love you!
