Kayla's UN Delgate Trip March '18

Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Kayla, I am Rec therapy student at Dalhousie university. Outside of school I am active volunteer with Scouts Canada, sing in a community choir and help facilitate reconciliation workshops for youth.

This year, I have been selected by Canadian Voice of Women for Peace to attend the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW62) March 12-13 2018, in New York City.

This is a very large deal for me, as I have never been selected to represent Canada on such a large scale, and as you can imagine I am very excited.

I am Aboriginal, Mi'kmaq to be exact, so I am honored to be able to bring diverse voice. Especially since this years Commission theme is "Empowering Rural Women and Girls". I hope to be able to share my views, advocate for many issues which affect Canadians and hit close to home; Aboriginal rights, living conditions on reservation, mental health systems, just to name a few.

The cost of this trip is not something that fits into my budget, but I plan to fundraise hard. To not only help myself get to the UN, but to help my fellow delegates as well.

This campaign is somewhat time sensitive, as the cost of flights and accomdenations increase by the day, as we grow closer to the event.

I am extremely grateful for any contributions to this campaign, as you are helping ensure Canada is represented with diverse voices.

And if you cannot donate, that is okay, sharing the campaign with others also helps.
