Kayla is the most amazing girl most of us know. For those of you who don't know her, trust me, she's the best. The biggest heart filled with love for everyone and everything.
Kayla is a daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother. Her kids mean the world to her and just 4 days after the birth of her second child she was informed of a terrible surprise.
She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. An aggressive cancer that attacks her Lymphatic System. Hodgkin lymphoma is cancer that develops from cells in the lymphatic system (part of the body's immune system) called lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that helps the body fight infections. The doctors are keeping a close eye on her because her lungs keep filling with water and there is a lot of pressure in her chest. She will be starting an undetermined amount of chemotherapy in the next week or so (hopefully sooner vs later) and it will be a long year, but we are hopeful.
I know a lot of you have asked me (her sister) what you can do to help. Well, truth is, prayer and love being sent our way is helping a lot keeping our spirits up. However, for some of you, this is not enough so I started a GoFunMe page to help raise funds. These funds will be used to help offset the cost of travelling back and forth to Edmonton (2.5 hours each way), possible hotel stays, groceries and baby essentials since she will be off work and Jeff will be taking off some time to bring her to her appointments, and probably some bills if need be. I'd also like to raise enough to buy her a wig since she will be losing her hair and letting her get her nails done. This will help her be "girly" and help immensely
with her spirits during this journey.
Anything you want to donate would be greatly appreciated. I will be available to watch the kids when I am not at work, my mom is coming out to help Kayla and the family throughout her treatment, and Mimi is around too.
