Hi, my name is Kayla Burt-Foster and I'm a wife and mom of 3 amazing children. This is taking a lot to do as I'm not one to ask people for help and feel sympathetic to the plight of others in this economy, but others have told me this may be a good way to start off so here it goes. I'm reaching out for assistance to help pay for a surgery that I desperately need for a capsulectomy.
I was born with a defect called pectus excavatum on the right side of my chest, which is where the breastbone and surrounding ribs grow abnormally inward, creating a sunken in appearance on the chest. This condition thankfully didn't put pressure on my main organs but was very noticeable to the eye as I grew into a young woman. In 2021, I decided to have a breast augmentation to make this less noticeable and made sure to stay to my natural size. My right side took a lot of work and more fluid in the implant to achieve this goal. I was very happy with the result and for the first time in my life had the self confidence that I was lacking. It was a much better alternative and less painful surgery than putting a rod in my chest.
Recently, I've been noticing pain and a change in my right side that kept progressing but I kept pushing it off and blaming a medication that has breast tenderness as a side effect. That's until one morning when I woke up in excruciating pain and saw that my right breast was swollen, rock hard, tender and deformed. I called my plastic surgeon who saw me two days later on February 13th, 2025. What he told me was something I feared. I have a level 4 capsular contracture that has left me in severe pain and a deformed breast. Because of my defect and during the natural scarring around the implant that forms a capsule, it caused a lot of extra scar tissue over time. So much in fact that it started to constrict around my implant and has unfortunately pushed my implant out of place and off to the side. To remove my implant, and the scar tissue which includes putting my implant back in place it's going to cost me at cash price $3,800 or $4,750 at finance or credit card purchase price. I'm unfortunately not qualified for extended financing at this amount with previous vet bills and can't come up with the funds quickly to cover this surgery. The details are in the surgery quote and my main goal is to at least reach half.
This has left me in severe pain, the lack of mobility with my right arm due to pulling of those muscles and I can't sleep at night due to the pain this is causing. I'm going to try my best to look at other options and to save the money as quickly as I can but it's going to take time I don't have. Every day is painful and if not taken care of soon could make my situation worse and risk severe infection.
Again, this breaks my heart to reach out to do and it makes me feel completely awful to even have to do this. Every single penny will be kept here until I'm able to pull it to use for surgery and/or the $380 deposit. On the surgery date, I'll be glad to post an update here to show that. Below are pictures of my surgery quote, myself, proof of my current medical issues and the saline implants themselves that show the fluid difference.
Blessings and thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your help! I'm sorry it's long but I want to be as transparent and as modest as I can due to the private situation. My husband is the only one working at this time due to my medical issues with MS as I'm looking for a part time job while in college for forensics and mortuary science. He's doing his best to help find a solution but unfortunately we keep facing a dead end.
EDIT: The surgery is being done this Tuesday, February 25th. Everything donated so far has been applied to help with the cost of the $3,800 surgery and pre-op lab work. ANYTHING donated so far will go to help with the cost of the hotel, gas, food there and also food and basic needs for my family during my recovery. I cook for my family every night but can't do so during recovery and my husband is stretched out will bills. It doesn't have to be money but can be restaurants that deliver and Walmart gift cards as well. Thank you!
