Hurricaine Harvey's eye came across Slowride Guide Services in Aransas Pass. A kayak fishing icon was heavily damaged and needs the support of our community. Dean Thomas taught many rookie kayakers, including myself, the joys of kayak fishing.
The Kayak Shack has been the location of tons of get togethers and parties but most importantly where many friendships have been formed. This is a Kayak Fishing Historical Site!!!
Kayak Fisherman across the country who want to help with the hurricane recovery can give to preserve an icon. Don't know where to donate or which programs will actually make an impact? This is the place, you will help rebuild a local business that brings in tourism to the Texas Gulf Coast from around the nation. All proceeds will 100% benefit the rebuild of the Kayak Shack.
Total repair costs have been quoted at about $60,000
$10,000 for engineer to design the plans
$20,000 for materials
$30,000 for equpiment & labor
We are aiming to raise 30k to cover the engineer and materials and hoping to reduce the labor cost with the help of skilled volunteers.
We have an awesome community. Let's take care of one of our own. Dean is pulling the damaged parts out now and needs help rebuilding. We will be extremely grateful for any help. We need people with these skills:
YOU can make a BIG difference. Even if you cannot help or donate please share this on Facebook with someone who would like to support.
