Katy & Paul's Baby Fund

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read our page.

For those who don't know, Katy and I are having a child in six months and couldn't be more excited! However, we would be lying if the reality of the situation did not come with its fair share of anxiety and worry.

We are both bicycle couriers in San Francisco, California. It's an amazing job that keeps us both healthy, strong, and happy. As with any job, it does have it's downsides. Our salaries are modest at best and Katy's have medical insurance.

To top it all off, Katy has been diagnosed with Hyperemisis Gravidarum, an extreme form of morning sickness that affects 2% of pregnancies and requires routine medical intervention to rehydrate and nourish her as she can't keep any fluids or food down (throwing up 15-20 times a day). She has not been able to work more than a day a week which has made it very difficult for us to save up anything on our own.

It is becoming more and more clear that we will need a lot of help. It is unlike us to ask for anything from anyone, but with potential for large medical bills, a drastically reduced household income when Katy can no longer go to work, and other unforseen costs of having a child, we must.

Why are we so special that you should give up your hard earned money to two people who made a conscious choice to have a child? Well, we aren't any more special than anyone else in our position, but we are putting ourselves out there and asking in earnest for your help.

You would not only be making a difference in our lives, but also the lives of a human being that has yet to grace this world with its presence.
