I have have never been public about my story with Chronic back pain until a few years ago. Our store had our holiday meeting and my Store Director challenged her leaders to be fearless and share a part of themselves with their team.  This meant I had to be vulnerable, human, and allow my people see the real me that I hid behind a smile and a jig everyday. The truth is I had discovered at 33 that I had limitations. I discovered that my 13 year old self who believed that you could have whatever your heart desired if you worked hard had belived a lie.  I had a dream of dancing on massive stages in front of huge crowds. A dream of defying what doctors said I could physically achieve by not allowing my scoliosis to cripple my future.  I had created a lie that I told myself for 20 years and now my dreams are simple. I dream of days without crippling pain, of taking my kids to the park and not sitting on the bench. Of days where I don't have to put on brave face for my team becasue I am hiding behind the muscle spasms and nerve pain. I have a chance with Stem cell therapy to go beyond imagining waking up without intense pain and actually living in less pain. I am living with 3 herniated discs that doctors will not operate on due my spinal fusion I had at 13.  That surgery would only do more harm to the few mobile discs I have. Stemcell therapy would regenerate the systems around my broken structure and finally give me the quality of life that a woman in her 30s should live. Instead of living in a body of someone far past their youth, I could enjoy a bike ride with my children, a rollercoaster with my sisters, a long walk through the park wih my love, and a day without depending on pain medications to spark a smile.
