Kati's Brain Surgery Recovery

Donation protected

I, Danielle, am starting a Go Fund Me page for my little sister, Kati Lynn and my brother-n-law, Josh. Kati was just diagnosed with a large, 2 1/4 inch benign brain tumor on her Cerebellum and Brain Stem. After the MRI showed how severe the tumor was, the local hospital transported her to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. The doctors decided to schedule surgery as soon as possible to try and remove it. The surgeon and his team were able to remove about 90% of it, by the grace of God. However, this life altering situation has left their future and finances in a grim spot.

Now I would like to give you a quick synopsis about Kati and her family. She is a stay at home mother with 2 beautiful little girls, Cheyenne, 8 and Aubrey, 5, a dedicated and loving wife, daughter, and sister. She has always been outgoing and extremely active from playing sports to outings with her family. My little sister is only 29 years old and has been married for 10 years. This is a family who has always gone above and beyond to help others out, whether it is a friend, stranger, family or their community. They don’t have much money but their hearts and time that they give never cease to amaze me and others.

Josh is the sole provider; therefore, money has always been tight. They were just starting to get caught up after Kati had to have surgery about 8 months ago to remove her Gallbladder. Unfortunately, they do not have any health insurance to help offset some of the expenses. They have applied for assistance with the hospital in hopes that they will receive some kind of discount towards this major surgery. We have faith that they will receive something; however, they are going to need lots of support.

Josh is already out of vacation time and without any more paid time off, his paychecks are going to decline at the worst time possible. They have already received a bill of $1,150.00 for the ambulance transport. Kati was admitted to the hospital May 15 and is still currently in. May 25 was the Neuro surgery and lasted right under 12 hours; she has been in ICU since then. The hospital does not have a projected time for her release yet. It is clear that she will have to continue extensive therapy for her long and tedious road to recovery. This means her husband is going to lose more time at work in order to get her to and from her therapy and doctor appointments since all their family lives out of state.

This hardship put their entire family in a difficult situation with more worries and stress than just getting their mother/wife healthy, stronger, and fully recovered. They also have to worry whether or not they are going to have enough money to pay the bills, buy groceries, or gas to get them back and forth to doctors’ appointments, work, etc… Asking for help is hard for them, I am sure it is hard for many people, but if there was ever anyone who was more deserving of help and kindness of this magnitude, it is my little sister and her husband.

There will be continuous updates as we follow this journey with Kati and her family. We are asking for a raised amount of $5, 000 - $8,000 to start off with, pending the outcome of the financial assistance regarding the hospital. They have normal bills like rent, utilities, groceries, vehicle, children expenses, and now the growing medical bills, doctors’ and therapy appointments, and extensive travels to accommodate all these new appointments. Thank you for all you love and support but mostly your prayers which will allow my little sister to get back to her active and normal life with her precious daughters and an amazing husband. Please know that we are grateful and we will make sure to "PAY IT FORWARD"!!
