As many of you may already know that 18 days ago, Katie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. To make matters worse her body has developed a rare and dangerous condition known as Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). This extreme inflammatory response has seen Katie placed in an induced coma for 8 days to protect her brain and on dialysis to support her organs as she fights for her life. Her condition is fragile and each day poses a new threat to her health as new complications arise, nothing has been straightforward in her fight with this disease.
