My best friend Katie, at the young age of 24 has just been diagnosed with an extremly rare form of cancer called hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma. While there is not a lot known about this disease due to the rarity, the normal causes of it do not apply to Katie. She has not been treated for any autoimmune diseases and has always been a healthy individual. The cause for this is a complete mystery.
Katie gave birth to her beautiful baby girl Kaelynn 3 months ago. 1 month ago she began having problems with anemia and fatigue. Recently, high fevers and intense night sweats began. She was admitted into the hospital and stayed for 4 nights before she was finally diagnosed with this lymphoma after recieving results from a bone marrow biopsy.
Chemo treatments began immediately, but these will not cure lymphoma. This lymphoma is a very aggresive form and although chemo will put her into remission, it will always come back. Katie's only cure is a bone marrow transplant. She will be meeting with a specialist this week to learn more about this cancer and what a bone marrow transplant will entail.
Katie and her husband Adam are very devoted to their daughter and will always put her above everything. On top of the medical treatment Katie will now need to pay for, she will also have her recent birth to her daughter to pay for and the special formula her daughter is on due to a milk allergy. This is all on top of the normal expenses of raising a new baby. Adam is a teacher for Carrollton school district and Katie is a RN at the hospital she is currently being treated at. Adam will need to take time off of school to care for his wife and child.
Katie's friends and family are desperately searching for any way they can to help. Any donation at all, big or small will help immensely. All donations will go directly to Katie and Adam to be used towards medical expences involved with this disease. I personally am so greatful for all the help and support and I will never be able to put into words how grateful Katie and Adam are for all the help and well wishes.
