Katie's unexpected medical need

Beginning last year my wife Katie started experiencing some odd symptoms. After months of doctor’s visits and tests, Katie was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. We are so lucky that we caught it before it was worse. It has now been confirmed to be, an Autoimmune liver disease. Due to that, her treatment plan has been very unique, considering her body is basically damaging her own liver. She's been in and out of the hospital and we are feeling so helpless.
Beginning of this summer 2018 she was placed on liver transplant list. She has an enlarged spleen, major fluid buildup on the abdomen, legs and lungs. She has been placed on multiple medications, with more to come. She currently is hospitalized due to her symptoms and the fluid retention. The fluid retention has made it nearly impossible to stand, drive, or wear clothing comfortably. She sleeps a lot now and feels extreme exhaustion with basic everyday tasks like showering and walking.
Katie has had a successful career of close to 20 years with Chase. She carries our insurance as well. She currently has used up all of her time she had that was paid. Her inability to return to work for now, will have a big financial impact on our ability to pay our bills and care for our children. Not including the bills piling up for her medical care and prescriptions.
We have two sons, Dallas (15) and Drew (11) . We have tried our hardest to keep the boys on a normal routine. They are active in sports, along with them attending different schools outside their school district. We were planning to move into that district before this school year began and with her health it hasn’t been possible. This disease has put everything on hold for the moment, with the focus now on just getting her well and home. Whatever it takes.
What has been a team effort to run this household has now become my sole responsibility. I don’t want Katie worrying about missing work and bills. I'm so scared and worried because I don't know what to expect from this disease. Katie is having a difficult time with all of this, as you can imagine and we are all just doing our best to support her and help her pull through this. We don’t ask for help often and this was such a hard thing for me to do. It’s just time... we have tried so hard to juggle all of this alone and not worry our children.
