Katie's Brain & Bone Cancer Fund

Donation protected
My Mom, Katie Lindstedt, has been recently diagnosed on October 4th with Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer in her Bones and Brain after being in recovery from her Breast Cancer for the past 15 years.  During the past year our family has slowly seen a decline her health and we were unable to understand why.

On September 13th, Katie went to see a Orthopedic Specialist to determine why she was still in so much pain after she had underwent an Emergency Hip Replacement surgery she had back in March. During this meeting, it was clear to our wonderful Dr. Stitzlein there was a larger issue. First he informed her that she had re-fractured her recent replaced hip and would need another hip replacement  right away. The next news was even worse.....a very large tumor on her "good" hip was found.  This tumor has overtaken her hip and leg and has caused multiple fractures which makes her "good" hip inoperable.

Unfortunately more  bad news was shared over the next two week hospital stay.  She underwent radiation therapy to alleviate the pressure and pain and thanks to her wonderful nurses she tried to recover after her second hip replacement.  But then after many more tests it was clear that the tumors were also found in her brain.

During our diagnosis with the Oncologist our family was told that she has Leptomeningeal Brain Cancer  with an over at 50%  rapid growth. Which gives her a life expectancy of 3 months.  She is only 57.

With this devastating news,  my Family and I are asking for any assistance to help my Father who has had to stop working to help take care of her full time as she is currently bed-ridden and unable to take care of herself.  Any help will assist with  Medical Expenses, Food, Bills and also to allow us to be able to enjoy some time with her doing things she truly loves like going to the movies,  finally going to the Getty Museum and taking her to the beach to listen to the waves.

As a daughter writing this it has become increasingly hard. As I realize that my mom will not be there for when I get married  and she won't be there when I start a family of my own. Which breaks my heart.  She was and has always been the light of our family with a laugh so infectious that lets everyone know that Katie has arrived. If you know her you know how much she loves her family, friends and even a stranger.  I love her more than anything and I want to thank you for help as it is hard to ask for.
