Katie Oswald Memorial Scholarship

Katherine (Katie) Oswald was one of the most dedicated, hardworking students in Wexford Performing Arts history.  Katie was the ultimate team player and contributed regularly to all aspects of the performing arts shows, both onstage and off. From soloist to curtain puller, Katie approached each task with equal amounts of enthusiasm and dedication.  Katie was a true leader and exuded the qualities that the Performing Arts Program at Wexford aim to teach their students:  Teamwork, dedication, professionalism, and versatility. Katie was always positive, always kind and always selfless.  Following her years at Wexford, Katie headed to New York City to continue her studies in musical theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and upon graduating worked professionally as an actor in New York.  Katie was diagnosed with cancer and fought a long and arduous battle, however she fought her illness with grace, positivity and humour.  Her mother Yvonne worked tirelessly to seek treatment for her daughter’s illness.  Katie passed away October 30, 2017 at the age of 22. 

 

Wexford Performing Arts is proud to announce that we have created a scholarship in Katie’s name. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who demonstrates the leadership, versatility, strong work ethic and professionalism that Katie demonstrated in her years in the performing arts program at Wexford.
