We are very sad to say that Lightning City Manager and Team Mom, Katie Saavedra, lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, January 10th.
Katie is one of the strongest women we know. She fought hard and long, without ever giving up. She was very humble, always helped everyone and never asked or expected anything in return. Katie was a loving, caring, giving, and beautiful person, both inside and out. Her heart was as big as she was. Her struggle has taught us that at any moment any one of us could be in her shoes. That each moment, each day is a gift.
Katie leaves behind her husband and her four babies. They were the world to her and always put them first. Katie loved being a soccer mom and always made sure cancer never took that away from her. No matter how sick she was, she always made her way to the soccer fields to cheer on her babies.
Any donation is greatly appreciated. The money will go towards helping her family with the funeral arrangements and any medical bills.
