Katie and Alex's Mission Trip to DR

Hello,   My name is Katie and I am a dental hygienist at Paradise Dental in Salem, MA .  This November my boyfriend Alex and I will be traveling with my office to La Romana, Dominican Republic to provide free dental care to people who have no access to it .   We will be staying in the Dominican for a week and traveling everyday to Bateyes, a sugar cane company town, to provide free dental care to the people who live there . The town of Bateyes is a very poor commuity and the people who live there do not have the resources to travel into the city where the doctors are located. This results in most of Bateyes residents going their whole lifetime without seeing a dentist or even a doctor.   The money we raise will go to our flights, accommodations for the week, and to purchase dental supplies needed to treat the patients we will be seeing in the Dominican.   I am very excited for this opportunity and have been wanting to volunteer on a mission trip ever since graduating from the dental hygiene program at Cape Cod Community College.   We hope to make a difference in the patients lives we treat during this trip!
