Kathy's Support Fund

Donation protected
On Wednesday December 17th, 2014 the world lost a bright and beautiful light, Jonathan Testa.  He was 27 years old.  His blue eyes danced when he laughed.  He could rock a room with his musical ability.  He was Kathy Leonard's son.

If any of you are affected by the devestation that comes with addiction; you may have an idea of what Kathy has been through.  If you haven't,  imagine watching your intelligent, creative, talented child become someone you don't recognize.  You try again and again to bring your child back into the family fold, but the drug invades their mind and turns them away .  It makes no sense.
The constant worry about where he was?  What he was doing?  Is he eating?  Is he cold?  Is he alone? Is he safe? Is "the" call going to come from the police?  Kathy lived like this for years, continually extending her hand, both emotionally and financially whenever Jonathan asked for her help.   Without question, everything and anything a parent would do to help their child.  Over and over, trying to find a way to battle against this demon.  There was some success along the way and she confided in me that Jon had agreed to spend the holidays with her and their family this year.  Something he had not done for years.  She saw promise in his eyes and heard it in his voice.  Less than 48 hours later, the demon had won. Kathy received that devestating call.

Over the last 5 years, Kathy maxed out her credit cards, was forced to sell her home and went into serious debt trying to keep her son alive.  He is gone and she is left to deal with the financial aftermath of addiction.  She needs financial support to begin to address this debt and pay for his final expenses.    My hope is that this fund will help to get her back on her financial feet.

Kathy is an amazing woman, always there for her family, friends and community.  I know because for over 10 years, she was my neighbor and starting with our first meeting we were friends.  Always there for me and my family without fail.

I am calling upon the community, her friends, friends of friends, those that have been touched by addiction or the loss of a child.  Please give what you can.  She needs our support.  Thank you.
