Kathy and Tiffany Wyer Medical Fund
Over a year and a half ago a dear friend/sister ended up in YRMC very ill. This very sister and Nurse Practitioner has been the one to take care of me through my bouts of mono, and other various illnesses over the years. Not only has she given selflessly to me, but she's given selflessly to many within our Yuma community through Desert Care Associates. Now I am asking that we help out the very woman who has donated/volunteered her time to go into over 30 Yuma County Schools to provide medicals for over 500 kiddos with special needs, all so they can participate in the Special Olympics.
Last year Kathy was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome otherwise known as POTS. The main symptom of POTS patients is the reduction of blood volume upon standing. For someone such as Kathy that devotes her life to caring for her patients, this has put a HUGE strain on her ability to work and attend to her patients. Physicians with expertise in treating POTS have compared the functional impairment seen in POTS patients to the impairment seen in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) or congestive heart failure.
Within the last year, Kathy's daughter Tiffany was also diagnosed with POTS. Yesterday, Kathy sent me a text letting me know that both she and Tiffany were accepted to the POTS Care Clinic in Dallas Texas. They are scheduled to go on July 21st to July 28, 2017. On top of paying for their treatment ($6,800 a piece), they will have airfare, hotel, car rental, and meals to cover. As we know this all can add up quickly. I couldn't even imagine the quality of life they both have lost over the past 2 years. Please help me restore their health and give them the gift of a valuable life that both these angels deserve. Any little bit will help and I can't thank you enough. Prayers are also needed as they go on their journey to healthy life!
