Kathrynn Bakes her Way to Germany!

Donation protected

Kathrynn had been learning German language throughout her homeschooling co-op time and has really excelled in it.

As she start into German in High School at Bloomington High School South she very quickly began to want to explore Germany and her heritage that comes from most of her family being from there.

About 2 weeks into this school year she was offered a chance to go to Germany with her class in June of 2018.

She came home incredibly excited by the prospect.

SO naturally we wanted to make it happen for her.

The trip is pretty costly and we told her that she would need to raise a portion of it herself.

This is the Trip and it is June 5th to June 14th.

DAY 1-2 FLY TO BERLIN. Fly through the night to Europe. Arrive in the German capital, Berlin, and begin exploring.

DAY 3 BERLIN: EAST AND WEST. Sightseeing with a local guide introduces Germany's capital, the Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, and ends with a visit to the Reichstag Dome. Opt to Visit the Rococo palace of Sans Souci, where a local guide shows you the rich interior, Roman-style baths, and lush gardens of the palace where Frederick the Great was entertained by Voltaire and Bach, and where Churchill and Stalin met for the Potsdam Conference. Discover Germany's history in Ich bin ein Berliner.

DAY 4 BERLIN. Visit the Olympiastadion, built for the 1936 Summer Olympics, famous for the exploits of Jesse Owens. Whip up a traditional German meal during Guten Appetit!

DAY 5 MUNICH. Travel a full day's journey south to Munich, capital of Bavaria.

DAY 6 MUNICH. A local guide shows you the highlights of the city, including the Frauenkirche, the Glockenspiel, and the 1972 Olympic stadium. Marvel at Nymphenburg Palace. Its 500 acres are lined with French trimmed hedges and boast three pavilions and a miniature palace. Visit the former concentration camp at Dachau. Tonight, learn to dance in local style and Bask in Bavarian Arts.

DAY 7 NEUSCHWANSTEIN. Enjoy an optional excursion to fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle, built for mad Bavarian King Ludwig II. A lesson in extravagance, with almost every inch covered in gilt, stucco, woodcarvings, and marble mosaics, the castle served as a model for Walt Disney's theme park. A visit to nearby Linderhof is also included. Consider Germany's finest in Debate the Great.

DAY 8 SALZBURG. Cross into Austria and visit Mozart's hometown of Salzburg, setting for The Sound of Music. Austria's hometown of Baroque, Salzburg is picturesquely nested in the mountains by the Salzach River. Continue to the Austrian capital, Vienna.

DAY 9 VIENNA. Follow in the footsteps of the imperial Habsburgs as a local guide shows you the Hofburg, the Belvedere, and St. Stephen's Cathedral. As you enter Schonbrunn Palace, imagine Emperor Karl I's abdication in this building, ending 640 years of his family's rule.

DAY 10 RETURN JOURNEY TO THE UNITED STATES.

SHE RECEIVES 3 COLLEGE CREDITS AS WELL.

She decided that offering baked goods, not limited to, but related to Germany might be a good way to earn that money.

She is hoping to bake her way to Germany and we are starting this campaign ahead of the holidays here in 2017 in hopes to get a good head start on the funds.

She is also willing to do pet sitting, housework, yard work etc. We can figure out something in exchange for the help.
