Kathryn S Carey Memorial Scholarship
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beautiful friend Kathryn. A celebration of life will be held in Kathryn’s honor and we are seeking assistance to establish a “memorial scholarship” that will help women aviation students achieve their goal of becoming pilots - the same goal Kathryn had been working to achieve herself. $50K allows us to set up a scholarship under Kathryn’s name that will live on in perpetuity. Anything less will be contributed to an already existing fund under her name. A very small portion may be used to offset the memorial service cost as well.
Kathryn was an aviator who dreamed of being a pilot. She was known for her drive, charisma and her willingness to be the first to volunteer for anything. She was just that kid in the classroom going “teacher teacher pick me pick me”, “I will do it”. She cared about others, even total strangers. Whether walking down a street or through an airport terminal, she would go way out of her way, running to catch up to a person she noticed ahead of her or turning around to catch up to someone she passed, to tell them their shoe laces were untied. Friends have many memories of her running in heels with crew bags trailing to catch an unlaced pedestrian’s attention.
Kathryn was a thrill-seeker, the motivational cheerleader, the life of the party and the one to always lend a helping hand. Above all else, she gave selflessly for all causes.
Daughter, Friend and our Sister - we will miss you terribly, but will do our best to live up to the high standards you set for humanity. We simply weren’t ready for you to go yet!
