<div><strong>unsere Tochter/Schwester/Mutter, Katharina Lunscken, eine gerade erst 26 Jahre alt gewordene liebevolle Mutter und starke Frau, steht in der größten Herausforderung ihres Lebens. </strong>
</div>
<div>Durch eine Komplikation während einer Endokarditisoperation am Herzen im Oktober 2022 erlitt Katharina einen nicht zu erwartenden hypoxischen Hirnschaden, der ihr Leben von Grund auf verändert hat.

<div>Anfangs war es nicht klar, ob Katharina dies überhaupt überleben würde aber für ihren Sohn, damals gerade 8 Monate alt, hat sie um ihr Leben gekämpft.

<div><strong>Katharina ist und war schon immer eine Kämpferin. Nun kämpft sie weiter! Für sich und ihren Sohn!</strong>

<div>Katharina ist die herzlichste und liebevollste Person, die es nur geben kann, sie begegnet allen Menschen mit offenen Armen und unterstützt jeden bedingungslos und selbstlos.
</div>
<div>Ihr sehnlichster Wunsch ist wieder die aktive Mutter zu sein, die sie vor dem Vorfall war.
</div>
<div>Sie möchte wieder mit ihrem Sohn Leonard (knapp 3 Jahre alt) spielen, für ihn da sein und gemeinsam mit ihm die Welt entdecken und ihn in seiner Entwicklung begleiten.
</div>

<div>Die Vision, wieder für ihren Sohn, der sie so sehr braucht, wieder da zu sein, gibt ihr Kraft, jeden Tag weiterzukämpfen und die Erfolge zu erzielen, die sie bereits aus dem „Wachkoma“ (Syndrom der reaktionslosen Wachheit) in das „MCS+“ (Minimally Conscious State – ein Zustand mit deutlich mehr Wachheit und gezielten Aktionen sowie Reaktionen) gebracht haben. Nun ist sie im Begriff durch ihre weiteren Fortschritte auch aus diesem Zustand herauszukommen.

<div><strong>Zuvor wurde ein solcher Fortschritt als sehr unwahrscheinlich erachtet, doch Katharina trotzt bereits allen negativen Statistiken und zeigt ihr Kämpferherz!</strong>
</div>

<div>Auch <strong>die moderne Medizin und Neurorehabilitation</strong> zeigen, dass man trotz des Krankheitsbildes diese Patienten, vor allem so junge und vorher gesunde, sportlich aktive Menschen wie Katharina, niemals abschreiben darf!
</div>
<div>Katharina war zuvor eine aktive Läuferin und absolvierte beispielsweise mehrere Halbmarathons.
</div>

<div>Nach einem fast einjährigen Klinikaufenthalt befindet Katharina sich mittlerweile in einem Pflege- und Therapiezentrum. Sie kann zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt leider noch nicht sprechen und muss über eine PEG-Sonde ernährt werden - mittlerweile lernt sie jedoch immer größere Mengen zu essen/trinken und mit uns ohne Stimme zu kommunizieren.
</div>
<div>Trotzdem möchte sie wieder sprechen lernen und versucht ihre Stimme zu trainieren!

<div>Bereits jetzt bekommt Katharina Unterstützung und Therapien wie Physiotherapie, Logopädie, Ergotherapie, Musiktherapie, Feldenkrais etc., die sie schon so weit vorangebracht haben. Diese Therapien müssen jedoch zum größten Teil von uns privat finanziert werden und erfordern <strong>hohe monatlichen Kosten im vierstelligen Bereich.</strong>
</div>

<div>Beispiele für <strong>bereits erzielte Erfolge</strong> sind vor allem die deutliche Wachheit und Aufmerksamkeit, sowie die reproduzierbare Fähigkeit gesagte Dinge zu verstehen und gezielt drauf zu reagieren. Zusätzlich nimmt sie mittlerweile aktiv an ihrer Umwelt teil.

<div><strong>Um ihren Traum zu verwirklichen, benötigt sie jedoch dringend weiterführende Therapien! </strong>Besonders vielversprechend sind die <strong>hyperbare Sauerstofftherapie (HBOT) und spezialisierte Rehabilitationsmaßnahmen</strong>, die wissenschaftlich fundierte Erfolge zeigen.
</div>
<div>Hierfür gibt es spezielle Einrichtungen/Rehakliniken, die Katharina in ihrer Rehabilitation und ihrem Fortkommen unterstützen können. Spezialisierte und weitreichend empfohlene Einrichtungen, die diese Therapien wie die HBOT und weitere notwendige Therapien sogar kombinieren befinden sich jedoch oftmals nur im europäischen Ausland.
</div>
<div>Trotz von ÄrztInnen und dem Medizinischen Dienst (der Krankenkassen) gestellter <strong>positiver Reha-Prognose</strong>, werden diese essenziellen Behandlungen bzw. die für Katharina optimale Reha im Ausland von der Krankenkasse leider nicht übernommen und können durch sehr hohe Kosten von uns als Familie allein so nicht getragen werden.

<div>Dabei kommen<strong> Kosten</strong> von Transport bis zum gesamten Aufenthalt und den speziellen Therapien auf, die sich auf bis zu 40.000 Euro belaufen.
</div>

<div>Auch die bisherigen Therapien müssen im Anschluss an die Reha weitergeführt werden, wobei die Kosten sich allein für ein Jahr bereits auf knapp 25.000 Euro belaufen.
</div>

<div>Um Katharina auch weitere Therapien zu ermöglichen oder anfallende Kosten wie Transporte und Hilfsmittel bezahlen zu können, sind wir auf Eure Unterstützung angewiesen.

<div>Our daughter, sister, and mother, Katharina Lunscken—a loving and strong woman who just turned 26—faces the greatest challenge of her life.
</div>
<div>Due to a complication during surgery in October 2022, Katharina suffered an unexpected hypoxic brain injury that has fundamentally changed her life.
</div>

<div>At first, it was unclear whether Katharina would survive at all, but for her son, who was only 8 months old at the time, she fought for her life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Katharina is, and has always been, a fighter. Now she continues to fight—for herself and her son!
</div>
<div>Katharina is the kindest, most loving person imaginable, always meeting others with open arms and supporting them unconditionally and selflessly.
</div>
<div>Her greatest wish is to once again be the active mother she was before the incident.
</div>
<div>She wants to play with her son Leonard, now nearly 3 years old, be there for him, explore the world with him, and support him as he grows.
</div>

<div>The vision of being there again for her son, who needs her so much, gives her the strength to keep fighting every day and to achieve incredible progress. Her journey has already taken her from the “vegetative state” (unresponsive wakefulness syndrome) to “MCS+” (Minimally Conscious State Plus—a condition marked by significantly more alertness and purposeful actions and reactions). Now she is on the verge of progressing even further beyond this state.

<div>Previously, such progress was considered highly unlikely. But Katharina defies all negative odds and shows the heart of a true fighter!
</div>

</div>
<div>Modern medicine and neurorehabilitation also show that patients, especially young, previously healthy, and active individuals like Katharina, should never be written off.
</div>
<div>Before her injury, Katharina was an active runner and had completed several half marathons, for example.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After almost a year in the hospital, Katharina is now in a care and therapy center. Unfortunately, she is still unable to speak and must be fed via a PEG tube. However, she is learning to consume increasingly larger amounts of food and drink, and to communicate with us nonverbally.
</div>
<div>She is determined to regain her ability to speak and works hard to train her voice!
</div>

<div>Katharina is already receiving support and therapies such as physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, Feldenkrais, and more. These have brought her significant progress. However, most of these therapies must be privately funded, costing us several thousand euros every month.
</div>

</div>
<div>Examples of her progress include her heightened alertness and attentiveness, as well as her reproducible ability to understand spoken instructions and respond purposefully. She now actively participates in her environment.
</div>

</div>
<div>To fulfill her dream, she urgently needs advanced therapies!
</div>
<div>Particularly promising are hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and specialized rehabilitation measures, which are backed by scientific evidence.
</div>
<div>Specialized facilities and rehabilitation clinics that provide these therapies and other necessary treatments are often located abroad.
</div>

<div>Despite positive rehabilitation prognoses provided by physicians and the Medical Service of Health Insurance (MDK), these essential treatments—or the optimal rehabilitation options abroad—are not covered by insurance. As a family, we are unable to bear the extremely high costs on our own.
</div>

</div>
<div>These expenses, ranging from transport to accommodation and specialized therapies, can total up to €40,000.
</div>
<div>Additionally, ongoing therapies must continue after rehabilitation, amounting to approximately €25,000 annually.
</div>

<div>To give Katharina the chance she deserves and to cover costs such as transportation, therapies, and medical aids, we urgently need your support.
