Study Abroad Trip to Madagascar
Donation protected
Hi Everyone!
I have been accepted into a summer study abroad program where I will study Malagasy, track endangered lemurs, and witness the competing interests of economic development and resource conservation through the Where There Be Dragons program.
I am ecsctatic about this amazing opportunity. I applied for and received a scholarship that will cover approximately one-third of the total cost of this six week program.
Many of you generously donated funds last year to the 2016 Cadiz study abroad trip that fell through and you allowed me to keep those funds to go towards a future trip. I've also been diligent about making and saving money by umpiring softball games and babysitting.
As a result of these endeavors, I only need $1500 more to make my dream come true. That $1500 will cover the remainder of the program costs, domestic travel to join the group and a travel backpack.
The program costs are due in mid-April.
Please, if you are able, donate! I'll take plenty of pictures while I'm there and I will share once I get back. I'm not sure about internet or mailing service access--we will be traveling all around the island, from the bigger cities to small native villages--but I will try to make a blog where I can post updates on what we've been doing and photos as well.
And of course, whether you can or cannot donate, please share this page! It has long been a dream of mine to travel and this is truly a once in a lifetime chance for me, so please help me make it possible!
Thank you!
Kate
P.S. Here's the link to the Where There Be Dragons website and their Madagascar trip page, where you can find a sample itinerary.

I'll be updating this page later with more information about Madagascar, including photos.
