We appreciate the gesture initiated by Frenz for a Cause and Betsy Theofanis Evangelou with respect to the creation of this GoFundMe campaign. While we did not request nor expect this in any way we are truly humbled by all the loving thoughts, prayers, messages and donations. We have exceeded the initial goal of $1 (one dollar) that was initially set and will no longer be accepting any more donations. We are doing well as a family and we want to thank everyone involved for wanting to help us.
This challenge we face has caused me to lie awake at night wondering how I can make a difference in the lives of others as many of you have so graciously done for us in just four days. Your generosity has truly inspired me to want to do more for those who are truly in need.
We are in the process of creating a foundation called “Katerina Kares” to promote awareness of how many children are affected by pediatric cancer. In the future we will host events to raise funds for research and care for those children and their families affected by this disease.
Katerina is a fighter and her strength and courage is what drives me every day to want to be the best version of myself. We will keep you up to date as things develop so please hold any future donations until we have the foundation setup so we can direct the funds to those who need it most.
My wife and I and our daughter Katerina are truly blessed to have the support of our entire amazing family who are available at a moment’s notice for whatever we may need. I am also thankful for what I like to call our “extended family”, our friends and community who have come together to remind us that we are not alone in our fight. Your thoughts and prayers are enough to keep us going every day. I want this foundation “Katerina Kares” to become that for so many others who do not have what we obviously have. I believe that with your help we can do that and I look forward to that in the near future.

Special Thanks to Frenz for a Cause and Betsy Theofanis Evangelou for setting this up. We have been together for many years fundraising for the fight against cancer at their events.
Many have asked how they can help and your thoughts and prayers are enough. If you would like to donate towards her expenses it is not necessary ..... The goal was set at $1 because we want to share with everyone how strong she is and we want you to just enjoy her pics and videos.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I only want to share with you the strength of this child and how she inspires us everyday.
Katerina Karounos is a 3 year old battling cancer. She was inspired by the Fight Song by Rachel Platten from the first time she heard it.
** MUST SEE video after her hello.. At around 2 minutes 20 seconds she sings to the end - in between she is dancing **.
She was diagnosed at age two back in January 2016 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). She continues her fight and has been an inspiration to her family and friends. She is responding well to the chemo treatments and the doctors are pleased with her progress. It has been 22 months and the fight continues.
She says she wants to be a doctor when she grows up to help sick kids feel better. All her stuffed animals at home are patients and have bandaids on them. She loves to play with her barbie dolls and ponies and often asks mommy to play "patients", where she proceeds to treat her stuffed animals. She asks the nurses at the hospital to give her extra bandaids at every visit so she can use them on her patients at home.
I want to thank our family and friends for their love and support and their thoughts and prayers. I wanted to share this video with others to help them stay strong in their fight.
I will continue to share photos and videos of her to inspire others to stay strong in their fight against cancer.
I thank god that he blessed us with this child. She is a gift and every day in this life is a gift.
