Katelyn's Krusaders

Hello family, friends, and kind acquaintances. As many of you may know by now, on Friday December 1st, our family received the devastating news that sweet, spunky, energetic Katelyn had a mass on her brain and that mass was leaking fluid. Her parents were informed that she would need to undergo emergency brain surgery to remove the tumor. On Saturday morning, her team of neurosurgeons at Cohen’s Children’s Hospital removed a sizable tumor during a 5 1/2 hour surgery. As to be expected from our feisty girl, she came through the surgery beautifully. It was with hopeful hearts that the family and those closest to her prayed that the surgery would be the toughest part of her journey. Unfortunately, following the agonizing wait for pathology results, Sue and Devin were given the news that the tumor is in fact cancerous. Katelyn’s tumor is called Anaplastic Ependymoma. She is facing 6 weeks of intense radiation as the course of treatment to address the remaining tissue.
I am sure many of us cannot even begin to imagine what the Gregorie family is going through right now but we know the journey ahead of them will be their family’s greatest battle. We are setting up this pages in the hopes of lightening their load in some small way and planning for the many needs that lie ahead for Sue, Devin, Ava, and our warrior princess, Katelyn. Please help our loved ones through this challenge as we know they would be there if any of us were in need.
