Kotara (Katara) Simone Grey, 24, of Tampa, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends as she battled through pain and difficulties of Sickle Cell Disease, which had touched us in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.
Katara's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of her existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which she lived.  Her smile,  infectious laugh and caring spirit, just something about her that brought so much joy to our Family.  Katara loved helping anyone in need. She loved to write, draw and play the piano, she was a artist at heart. One of her hobbies was collecting Betty Boop.  She enjoyed music and reading stories.
She gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Katara was born in Bricktown, New Jersey to Hector and Annette Grey.
She was attending University of South Florida for a Bachelors in Production Management. She previously attended Hillsborough Community College where she received an Associate in Business Administration.  Katara's dream was pure and just: to run a children's hospital. She wanted to improve the hospital experience for children with her condition and others alike. All she ever wanted was to help those in need, she was selfless in her approach.
Most importantly, Katara accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior in 2017. She always spoke of uplifting scriptures from the Bible or from family and friends during her time of sickness.

Katara is survived by her Mother Annette Grey and Father Hector Grey and  Sister Channel Wilburg. Brothers H. Elliot, H. Marcellus, H. Nickolus Grey.  Grandparents Pansy Kerr, Cynthia Gray and Kensley Gray.  Great Grandparent Bernetta Roberts.  Numerous Uncles, Grand Uncles, Aunts, Grand Aunts, Cousins and Friends.

A visitation will take place from 5-9pm on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618.
