Hi my name is Vanessa, my friend Katrina Pineda was diagnosed with Diffuse B Cell Non Hodgkin Lymphoma earlier this year.
In January 2018, her lymph nodes started to enflame and her allergies were acting up for a couple weeks. Her lymph nodes wouldn't stop growing so she went to get them checked. She was prescribed medicine and was told by doctors that there was nothing to worry about and that it would go away. After 2.5 months of still no reduction in the size of her lymph nodes, she decided to get checked more throughly with testing. During all of this, she decided to start looking for a new job in her preferred profession, Nursing. She was then hired at Kaiser Permanente as an Doctor's administrative assistant. This was a great opportunity she couldn't pass up and started her new job in late March. 2 weeks after she was hired, she went and received testing to find out what was causing the inflammation in her lymph nodes. A couple weeks later after she started her new job she received her results, Kat was diagnosed with Diffused B Cell Non Hodgkin Lymphoma at the age of 29.
She is now in the process of treating the cancer which includes treatments (Chemo therapy every 3 weeks for the next year), medicine, doctor visits, etc., this all can be very expensive and is paying for all medical expenses out of pocket. All of this treatment is very costly, she is paying up to $1,000 a month.
Kat is a great person, I have known her for 5 years and counting. She is funny, kind, smart and most of all she never asks for anything. Ask anyone that has had a chance to spend time with her they would say the same. It is difficult to go through something like this, not only mentally and physically but FINANCIALLY.
I created this GoFundMe so she can stop worrying so much on how she is going to pay off all of this debt and start focusing on getting better after she beats this cancer.
