Dear Members of Korean American Social Work Educators Association (KASWEA),

Warm greetings to each of you. It is our sincere pleasure to connect with you today and introduce a pivotal endeavor that demands our collective attention - the 2023 KASWEA Junior Faculty Seed Grant and Scholarship Fundraising Campaign.

In previous years, KASWEA organized distinct spring and fall fundraising phases for the Junior Faculty Seed Grant and Scholarship Awards. However, this year marks a departure as we embrace a fresh approach - a convergence of these two campaigns into a singular, synergistic endeavor. The success of this joint undertaking could potentially reshape our future strategies, prompting us to either continue this fusion or revert to the conventional practice of separate campaigns. We really want to ask for your active participation, recognizing the significance of this important approach.

Our shared commitment to fostering excellence and nurturing emerging talent drives us to continue supporting the academic community. This year, we have set our sights on the goal of raising $4,000 to empower the next generation of scholars through our Junior Faculty Seed Grant and Scholarship program.

The impact of your generosity cannot be understated, and we would like to share some inspiring testimonials from past awardees:

"Receiving the dissertation proposal award from KASWEA was a pivotal moment in my career.
It affirmed the significance of my research and elevated its visibility within and beyond the academic sphere, playing a crucial role in my career advancement.” (Ms. Soobin Kim, Doctoral Candidate, University of Pittsburgh, 2022 CSWE Outstanding Dissertation Proposal Award recipient)

"I am truly grateful for the opportunities the KASWEA Outstanding Dissertation Award has opened up for me. It not only provided a platform to introduce my research to a wider audience but also facilitated valuable connections with fellow scholars who share my interests.” (Dr. June-Yung Kim, Assistant Professor, University of North Dakota, 2021 SSWR’s Outstanding Dissertation Award recipient)

"The Junior Faculty Seed Grant enabled me to amplify the impact of my research by expanding it into a larger project. With the additional resources, I could hire another research assistant, taking my work to new heights. Thank you for your unwavering support.” (Dr. Seongho An, Assistant Professor, University of Central Florida, 2021 KASWEA Junior Faculty Seed Grant recipient)

"The Junior Faculty Seed Grant from KASWEA breathed life into my innovative ideas and broadened my academic horizons. This grant not only offered crucial financial backing but also bolstered my reputation as an independent researcher, helping me secure additional grants and recognition.” (Dr. Joonmo Kang, Assistant Professor, University of Kansas, 2021 CSWE Outstanding Dissertation Proposal Award recipient)

“With the seed grant, I was able to hire one more research assistant to complete my research which would be extended to a larger project. Thank you very much for the support.” (Dr. Jung Sim Jun, Associate Professor, Kansas State University, 2021 KASWEA Junior Faculty Seed Grant recipient)

We are earnestly seeking your invaluable support to achieve our fundraising goal. Please consider your kind contribution to this effort so that our doctoral students and junior faculty members can achieve their career goals. We humbly request your donations, and we thank you for your ongoing support.

Warm regards,
Members of the Fundraising Committee, KASWEA
