Help KAST Musical Theatre Company!!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nora and I work with K.A.S.T. - a Children & Teen's Musical Theatre Company based in Los Angeles, California. I am fundraising on behalf of this company and Kim Steury because I can't think of a teacher/director or a group of kids more deserving of a little extra help.

Like many theatre and arts programs, the pandemic significantly impacted our company. Shortly after the pandemic hit, we were fortunate enough to be able to switch to the virtual platform and continue creating art. One of our assistant directors, Robert Reagan taught himself how to edit and brought our virtual musicals to life alongside our Director, Kim Steury. We were so lucky to have continued support when many people were struggling.

When switching over to virtual, we had to cut our enrollment capacity. We are grateful for vaccines and safety measures that have allowed us to perform in person again. That being said, we have since had to keep our enrollment capacity lower to maintain some level of social distancing to best keep our KAST family safe.

Before the pandemic, we were trying to expand our company, but we took a hit during the pandemic and are still playing catch up. So, that's where you come in!!

We are looking for some help...Kim is currently in the process of expanding and going to more schools, and we need a costume shed –– right now, Kim has all of the costumes and props at multiple locations. Having it more organized would allow her to spend more time focusing on the kids. We also need better lighting equipment that can travel with us & a short-throw projector to give our theatre kids the absolute best.

The one thing that has always united us, especially during this time, has been music and the arts. These kids are so unbelievably talented, and our goal is to be able to reach more of them.

Below is a breakdown of where your donations would be going (in no particular order):
1. Nonprofit fees - our goal is to officially become a nonprofit, but there are several fees to do so, and we want to ensure we do it right. Becoming a nonprofit as soon as possible would allow us to accept tax-deductible donations and apply for specific non-profit grants.
2. Costume Shed!! Kim currently pays a monthly fee to house costumes and props at a storage unit. Not only does the cost to rent add up, but it also means Kim has to go through multiple areas before and after each show to dig through/put away costumes. Access to a shed at her home would take away that cost & allow her to have an organized, easy-to-use space to store costumes/build up inventory.
3. Lighting — We all know that good lighting can make or break a show. We want to invest in better quality lights that are ours to use for both school and summer shows. These can be pricey but are worth the investment & will ultimately make the performances and video recordings look much better!
4. Short Throw Projector – This would allow us to project any backdrops on stage to help add to our set design. These can be pricey but would add great value to our shows.

Donations Givebacks:
$25 will receive a shoutout in our program for our Fall/Spring show!
$50 will receive a KAST T-Shirt
$250 will receive a special video message from Ms. Steury
$500 will receive two (2) reserved front-row seats at one of our upcoming shows!

*Also interested in in-kind donations that could benefit the program in any way, thank you.*

We know that so many people struggled during the pandemic. We understand that this is a big ask, but we would greatly appreciate it if you could donate – every dollar counts. Please share & help us get the word out.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
