Kassi's fight against Brain Cancer

Donation protected

For those of you who don't know Kassi I wanted to tell you a little about her. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and had a double mastectomy. She had to have chemo and radiation. In one more year she would have been considered in "remission." Kassi is a loving mother of two beautiful children a wife a sister a daughter and most of all a friend!

On Friday the 7th of July our lives were changed forever. We got the news that there was a mass on the front temporal lobe of Kassi's brain. Initially the doctors thought the mass stemmed from the breast cancer. Surgery was scheduled for Sunday the 9th at 7 am to remove the mass and then determine what type of treatment would be needed once removed. During the day Saturday the 8th the swelling had got so bad that emergency surgery began around 1am Sunday morning. The surgery went from being a surgery to remove the tumor to a surgery to keep Kassi alive. The pathology came back and the mass was diagnosed as stage 4 Glioblastoma, also known as GBM. This type of cancer is called the "terminator" of brain cancers because it's very aggressive and very fast growing, luckily Jason got Kassi to the doctor as soon as he did!!! Treatment is removal of tumor, radiation and chemo. The neurosurgeon felt like he removed the entire mass. She was in ICU until Thursday the 13th. She was then moved to another room where she has continued to heal. On the 17th Kassi has another CT scan that showed she had a stroke in the right occipital lobe causing cortical blindness. Kassi could regain sight in one eye or both or the blindness could be permanent. As of now Kassi has no vision.
The next step is to get Kassi into a rehabilitation center so that she can get the treatment needed to help her get back to herself. She is making progress each day. With that being said the magnitude of this cancer found has blown me away. It's going to be a long road possibly several several months of rehabilitation and there will be bumps as set backs but like Kassi told me since all this has happened. "Sister all you need is faith the size of a mustard seed, You need to believe " I am going be fine because "HE" has told me, we got this!! So please continue to pray for her complete healing, and pray for her little family, for Jason and the kids to remain strong and her extended family as we all travel this road!! Power of prayers!!!!
All of the money raised will be used for medical expenses and travel expenses.
