Kash's Spina Bifida Therapy

 

My name is Camille Brady and Kash Dearden is my sweet, special nephew.  As most of you know, when Kash was born, he was born with spina bifida myelomeningocele with hydrocephalus, neurogenic bladder and kidney hydronephrosis (stage 4). 

Part of the side effects Kash has had with spina bifida has made it so that he is unable to control his bladder & bowels. In July, Kash had surgery due to the chronic UTI's that were damaging his kidneys. Even post surgery he's still getting UTI's.

 Craig & Jackie have done so much research on how they can get Kash the help he needs.  They have found a form of exercise and physical therapy to strengthen the bodies core with a focus on bladder and bowel training. Once the core is strengthened, it sends signals to the brain that help it to recognize the bladder and bowel muscles and in turn learn to control them. They have great success with it. Aside from that, it will make him much more normal in the way of agility and all his gross motor skills.

There are few locations in the U.S. that do it. And, there is one in Utah that will be able to help Kash, called the Intensive Physical Therapy Institute (IPTI). It’s 4-hours a day of intense therapy for 5 days a week for 3 weeks. 

Craig & Jackie were able to get a medical grant for Kash, but it will only cover 25% of the total cost of payment for this specialized therapy. Their insurance has denied them twice for the coverage on the remainder of the cost. Which is why I am asking for help to pay for the remainder of the cost of therapy.  Any amount of donation would be a huge blessing to the Dearden’s.
