Karyn's Cancer Care Fund

Dear family and friends of Karyn,

As some of you may know, our dear friend Karyn was diagnosed with cancer on August 26th, 2021. She was diagnosed with inoperable cholangiocarcinoma, otherwise known as bile duct cancer, which is an extremely aggressive and rare form of cancer. Karyn started chemotherapy on October 5th and will be unable to work during the 10-16 month treatment process.

Karyn has applied for ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) but unfortunately this may take 6-9 months to be approved. To aid Karyn through this challenging time, we are raising funds to cover the costs of medical expenses, including prescriptions and PSW, daily living essentials, including groceries and various care items, and living expenses, including rent and utility bills. Karyn is also currently looking for a new, cozy apartment which is more suitable for her needs during this time, therefore some funds will be allocated to moving expenses.

 

Any contribution is greatly appreciated and will go directly to supporting Karyn. If you’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with her you know she’s an incredibly generous, thoughtful and fiercely loyal friend. She’s also a Toronto based screenwriter, actor, and photographer who shares stories of nuanced queer friendship and relationships through her art.

 

We ask that you direct any questions or emotional support towards your support networks to give Karyn space to focus on her healing.
