Karsyn had been complaining of leg pain. But there was literally nothing that lead her mom to believe she had done anything. No redness, bruising, nothing. So they kept an eye on it and within about 10 days of her first complaint she couldn't even walk. She was scheduled right away with her pediatrician and it was a whirlwind after that.
On February 20th, 2019 Danielle, Karsyn's mom heard the words no parent ever wants to hear ... Your daughter has Cancer.
As the news comes as a complete shock to Karsyn. Her mom along with family and friends.
She is currently seeing a hematology oncologist in Scarborough with the Maine Children's Cancer Center and an Orthopedic Surgeon at Boston Children's.
This past week Karysn had a biopsy done to confrim which type(s) of cancer she does indeed have. We are still awaiting the results.
Danielle tells me that she has a great amount of confidence with her care team. Her oncologist is fantastic! Danielle says this offer some minimal relief.
Karsyn remains full of smiles for the most part, the unknown hasn't sunken in, such a young munchkin to process such a diagnosis. Her immobility is really the biggest thing. She's afraid that no one will want to play with her anymore And she gets scared about her appointments coming up, she is very nervous as to be expected.
At this moment it's a waiting game .... Weekly appointments and many follow ups... As Chemo starts it will add on more emotional and financial hardships to this precious family.
As a friend of Danielle and girl scout leader of Karysn I create this gofund to assist in any way possible. Every Cent Helps.
We know from seeing such stories far to often the road of recovery and remission is long.
