Hello friends!
My name is Karly Thompson, and I am a sophomore at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming pursuing a major in Marketing.
I have recently been accepted into a foreign exchange program through UW which will take place at Alpen-Adria University in Klagenfurt, Austria, and I could not be more EXCITED! This is a semester long course which will begin in March 2018 and run through the end of June 2018.
I chose this foreign university because AAU offers a wide selection of business and marketing classes, is in the heart of beautiful Austria, and with its central location I will be able to visit multiple countries and experience all their cultures while I am there.
Participating in a foreign exchange program has always been a dream of mine, and I cannot believe that it could really happen! This opportunity will not only allow me to get outside of my comfort zone, but I will also learn many skills which will be applicable to my future personal and professional life. Having this exchange under my belt will greatly assist me in my applications to master’s programs after my graduation as well as in future job opportunities.
I’ll admit it, going by myself to a foreign country for five months seems really scary at times, but I’m ready for the challenge! My travels to Austria will allow me to become more well-rounded, independent, accepting of other cultures, and I am planning on learning a great deal about myself! Truly, I do not think there is a better way for me to embrace life and to further my education than this awesome experience.
I am asking for donations in support of this exchange to help assist my living expenses, tuition, airfare, health insurance, and other fees and charges that go along with my semester abroad. If you are against donating or don’t feel comfortable with it, then please put me to work! I am not asking for handouts, trying to beg for money, and I am not trying to guilt trip anyone into helping me fund my semester… BUT if anyone needs a baby sitter, pet sitter, house sitter, yard mower, dog walker, snow shoveler or anything else you think I could do for you…I’m your girl!
All of this being said, I created this fundraiser to help make my foreign exchange dream become a reality. I am hoping to start raising funds as soon as possible!!! If you are able to donate at all, whether big or small, I am sincerely grateful for your generosity. Regardless of your donation, I appreciate that you took the time to read this all the way to the end!
