Karing for Kyla

Donation protected

We started a Go Fund Me account for anyone that would like to donate to the girl that we are having our benefit event for in August. This will make it easy for those that have asked how can we help? We would like to give the funds to the family in August. Thank you so much in advance for any support to help this beautiful little girl and her family....Here is Kyla's story....

Kyla Hartigan is the 11 year old daughter of Margie (Ebinger) and the late Mark Hartigan.  Kyla was born 12 weeks premature which ultimately led her to a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy.

While Kyla is in most ways a typical 11 year old, she has little to no physical abilities.  She is dependent on her family for daily life skills and uses a motorized wheelchair for mobility.  Her diagnosis and related medical issues result in Kyla having hundreds of doctor and therapy appointments each year.

Mark and Margie struggled to keep up with the appointments; equipment and medical needs; and her daily life assistance.  However, in July, 2016, Kyla’s dad Mark (1/2 of her support system) passed away suddenly.  It was only 3 weeks later that Kyla was scheduled to have a tumor detached from her spinal cord.  The Hartigan family felt as though their world was falling apart.

Margie now finds herself caring for their 3 children and being the sole caregiver to Kyla, which includes managing her appointments, therapy sessions and all of her daily needs.  Kyla’s family is currently appealing an insurance decision to not cover a much needed, life-altering surgery that she was supposed to have in March.  Unfortunately, she will likely have many more surgeries in her future.

All the while, Kyla remains a happy and positive young girl.  She is always smiling.  She is determined to take steps independently one day and works so hard at her therapy sessions towards achieving that goal.
