Karina Valencia Funeral Fund

I want to say thank you to all that have reached out to me and my family over the last 4 months. Whether it was a text, in person or a social media post it meant a lot to me and my family to know that we had so much support from those around us. My sister was special to me and everyone who came in contact with her. Her smile was infectious and she filled the room with joy. Karina was diagnosed with Sotos syndrome when she was born but that never stopped her from living life. We treated her like she was normal which in our eyes she was, she was my sister and I didn’t know anything else. Growing up life had obstacles and my family took them head on. When I said Karina was special believe me she was from kicking my ass at Super Mario Bros. to understanding English, Spanish, and some sign language. She was also an amazing artist who loved to draw and create necklaces and bracelets with beads and string she would make my mom and dad buy for her at her favorite store Target.


My parents moved to WA 12 years ago to give Karina a better life. My mom dedicated these years to 24 hour care for her, it was everyday life she knew nothing else. With that being said they only had one income coming in and in the last 8 months of her life she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and my dad went on family leave to help my mom with transporting her to and from doctors appointments and just being there emotionally for my mom when I couldn’t be there.

After a long and hard fight she passed away on Thursday, October 12th and 5:30pm surrounded by friends and family.

Now you all know funerals are expensive and with no income from my dad because of his unpaid family medical leave and the limited amount I could offer, I’m asking for help to relieve any stress from my parents. From anyone who can spare anything. For those who know me family is everything and I wish I could do this all on my own but I simply can not.
