Kari & Cody's Disaster Relief Fund

Donation protected

On August 30th Hurricane Harvey caused devastation to many homes in Texas. The losses are unimaginable and watching the news is almost hard to beleive . This became a hard reality for our family as some of "our own" are there, in the middle of the chaos, trying to survive.

Today we learned that Kari Busch and Cody Woods sustained major damage to thier home to the incredible floods in Beaumont Texas. Thier home was not in a flood zone, and like many Texans, they did not have the special insurance rider for this type of disaster. The house had filled with water and they were able to escape on a small boat with as many belongings as they could, eachother, and their dog "LuLu".

The adventure had actually just began for them because what people dont know is that Kari and Cody are warriors, humanitarians, and animal lovers. Kari actually is the director of marketing for the Golden Triangle Emergency Center locally and works closely with Channel 12 in many relief efforts for the citizens of her town. Disaster is her life and passion and she is no stranger to the incredible losses that people experience during this type of tragedy.

After leaving their home and most of thier possesssions behind, they went around to other homes where people were trapped and many people had fled, leaving thier pets tied to the house. As waters rose, citizens became trapped, pets were drowning. Kari and Cody started a relief effort and have been working tirelessly for the last 48 hours to offer help and rescue any one in need with thier own boat. They made the decision to stay in the disaster zone and try to offer help to the thousands of people that are still trapped and hurt.

Kari and Cody's Home is unpassable with water several feet deep. They also have an adjoining work shop that harbors many of Cody's tools and work equipment.  They had already applied for FEMA but thier county was not officially declared a state of emergency at that time, unfortunately.  We hope that FEMA can offer some relief but they do not offer 100% recovery for losses of this size.

As a family, we plan to make a trip to Texas once the floods clear and help start the recovery of thier home and all possessions.  We will rebuild thier house, but it will take much time and financial assitance to even begin this process. We are unsure what the coming days will bring and how Kari and Cody will rebuild thier "home" and be able to work and return to a "normal life".

I am asking for assistance for our Family to help two incredible people, Kari Busch and Cody Woods, who left thier home to go help others, who ran towards the danger- not away, to selflessly offer aid to those in need.

We hope to get more updates as time goes on, and I will post pictures if I can get them. Please consider helping. Any amount, no matter how small,  will help Kari and Cody. They can withdraw funds from this account at any time to help with the financial burden. Thank you to everyone who shares this story.
