Karen's Birthday fund drive for SF-Marin Food Bank

Every year on my birthday in December we have a big party. Friends and family hang
out together for hours, eating well, playing lots of music, and catching up. Some of us see each other all the time, and live only 47 seconds away from one another; others live far from California and we only see each other once a year. There is a wonderful feeling of community at this time, and it nourishes us for a good long time.  Missing this in-person connection now. 

This year, of course, we will not be together celebrating during winter in the same way.  I’ve decided to donate some December party money to our local food bank. It is an excellent, highly effective organization. It started as a small grassroots effort and over the decades has maintained integrity whileexpanding tremendously.

More information about SF-Marin Food Bank: The mission of the SF-Marin Food Bank is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin counties. We work to end hunger in three primary ways: we operate 255 weekly farmers' market-style pantry distributions, help clients enroll in CalFresh (foods stamps in California) while leading the call for improvements to this vital program, and we supply food to over 300 anti-hunger programs serving low-income individuals and families. This year, we will distribute 50 million pounds of food to those facing hunger.
