Karen O's Crusaders Against Cancer

This is a story about KAREN O'NEIL, a very brave and strong Mom, daughter, wife, sister and friend who first went head-to-head with breast cancer at the end of 2012. In 2014, Karen's condition advanced and she was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer.
It was almost five years ago that Karen found the lump. Her breasts were removed within a month and reconstructive surgery, radiation and chemo treatments and therapies filled her next two years. All was clear for four months and life went back to as normal as it could for a cancer survivor in remission. But then there was pain in her pelvis that would not dissipate. In 2014, doctors discovered a fracture and that the cancer had metastasized which is why her hip bone was not healing and she was feeling unrelenting pain. Three years after this diagnosis, our survivor is still living with constant and relentless day and night pain, enduring chemotherapy treatments, trying new clinical trials and therapies and living with more pain than all of us have ever had put together. Karen has most recently started another clinical trial.
Karen is a battler, and has always been. Being the youngest of four kids must not have been easy for her, especially when your three older brothers are Mike, Andy, and Matt. So, for this strong, brave woman, her brother Matt and I have set up this fundraiser with the hope that Karen can focus on her fight and not be distracted by the financial burden that this horrible disease has cast on her and her family. The financial stress of medical bills and co-pays, commuting, pain therapies and equipment to make her more comfortable is ongoing.
