My name is Joel Smerber, I am a resident of California and a United States Navy Sailor currently stationed in Portsmouth Virginia.
In the late evening of October 1st my beautiful Step-Mother, Karen Smerber, was shot in her lower abdomen while attending the Route 91 Harvest, by a deranged gunman in a completely unprovoked and unacceptable act of domestic terrorism. The events that took place on that horrific night will undoubtedly go down as the deadlest mass shooting in known United States history. Due to privacy concerns for my lovely Step-Mother I will not disclose the hospital she is receiving her care in; however, Karen is currently post surgery in the ICU and in stable condition. Any little donation, no matter how small, helps. My family has received tremendous care and prayer from the community, for which we will be forever greatful.
All donations will be spent towards expenses related to this tragic event such as travel for family to and from California to visit Karen Smerber in the ICU in Las Vegas, lodging for family members, any unforseen medical expenses, and lost wages for the Smerber family.
