I began having medical issues in July. My vision was screwy, I was losing weight, and my glucose was very high. I was diagnosed with diabetes in the beginning of August. By the end of August I had become jaundice. I went in for an endoscopy and the doctors found a tumor. The tumor was squeezing the bile duct and preventing the liver, kidneys and pancreas to function properly. A stent was inserted to fix the problem but then I ended up with pancreatitis and was hospitalized for 6 days. During this time the tumor was confirmed to be cancer of the pancreas. I am beginning chemo treatments followed by radiation and chemo combined. I will have “whipple” surgery to remove a section of my stomach, pancreas, and liver in the hopes to eradicate the cancer. After that I will have several more months of chemo. In all, I’m looking at approximately 11 months of treatment.
