Karen Hope, A Medical mystery, FNF

Donation protected
For those who may not know, my sister Karen Hope has gone through quite the ordeal, or as some doctors and nurses may say, a medical mystery. On January 27, 2017 Karen was taken by ambulance to Eagle Ridge Hospital from her home due to being unable to walk, stand or do anything at all. Within hours she was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital where they were better equipped to deal with the trauma that was very quickly becoming apparent. Within hours of being admitted she started to take a very serious turn. The decision to intibate her was made as her body was quickly starting to fail her. Karen was put into a medically induced coma. Her kidneys had shut down and the rest if her major organs were starting to struggle. Family members were being notified as it was unclear whether or not she going to pull through this. She continued to be hooked to a multitude of machines for days. Thankfully once being taken off sedation we started to gradually be able to communicate through some small eye movement and then nodding or shaking her head. Within days of Karen waking up the dialysis machine, breathing tube and feeding tube were removed. Shortly after that Karen was able to talk, well more like whisper. She has taken some steps forward but also some steps back. Karen is finally able to rest a bit more comfortably now after having a proper fitting chest tube inserted into her left lung. That process has been long and painful. As it continues do its job it has become very apparent that an infection still exists somewhere in her body. Where, what and why are all the questions everyone including every doctor and nurse that has worked on her to ask. After many xrays, ultrasounds, EKG's and CT scans they still cannot figure out the source. They certainly are trying though. Her family is so very greatful to all the doctors, nurses and technicians who have all been so wonderful. Their compassion, words of encouragement and dedication to help Karen each moment as she struggles and focuses on dealing with everything she has and will continue to deal with in the long road of recovery mean more to her and her family than any words can say. She has many many months of hard work ahead and to get her back to the young and healthy woman she was and will be again. If you are able and would like to help Karen out with any of her future expenses that would be greatly appreciated. Her hope is to resume back to how things were and currently are at the moment with regards to her home and the regular month to month bills.
