Remembering Karen Encinas

Karen Ann Encinas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 5:48pm. She had spent the last two months in and out of the hospital for fatigue and other illnesses and was admitted on Tuesday, September 4th to monitor her. Thursday evening, Karen went into a self-induced coma. After a CAT scan on her liver and a biopsy performed on Friday evening, results were given to the family on Monday, September 10th that showed a non-treatable cancer had overtaken her liver and her kidneys had shut down.
Karen was born to Nancy Montres and John Encinas on May 31, 1959 in Northridge, CA and moved to Simi Valley, in 1965. In 1972, Karen’s mother, Nancy, moved Karen and her younger sister to San Diego, CA and has resided in the Santee area for the past 28 years. Karen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a dear friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie and Stephanie Henriksen, grandchildren Raelynn and Brantley Weitzel. sisters, Susan Fogle, Tammie Wyles and Elena Cortez.
Karen recently celebrated her 34th Anniversary with Sharp HealthCare. She loved working at Sharp very much and cared deeply for the people with whom she worked. Karen spent much of her career at Sharp working at the Print Shop at Grossmont Hospital, where she worked with her mother and sister, and where she built many life-long friendships. Although I only had the privilege of knowing Karen for a few years, I will always remember her for her sweet demeanor, her perseverance, and her deep love for her family and God.
There will a Celebration of Life at the VFW Santee Post 9327 on Sunday, September 30th at 2:00pm. The address is 8516 N Magnolia Ave, Unit 203, Santee, CA 92071.
