Karen Browning Stivers, needs our help. This wonderful woman is one of the most loving, genuine, kind-hearted and caring people I know. She was not feeling well and went to the doctor in July. After some blood test were done that alarmed the doctor, he started requesting more test. She was sent for an MRI scan on her kidneys, then she was sent to the Urology and Oncology doctors. Through the test and biopsy, it has been determined that she has Stage 4, kidney cancer. The doctors began her on a treatment plan of taking chemo pills, 4 times a day. The cost of the pills are around $1000. The pills caused some other problems and the doctor had to change her dosage to 2 pills per day, as of now. Her Radiology doctor discussed a procedure to help shrink the tumors, so her right kidney can be removed. The plan is to remove her right kidney in the hopes to save some of the left kidney. If not, then she will be placed on dialysis. The doctor said that the tumors are bleeding and there are blood clots that they need to try to get rid of along with the tumors.
As you can imagine, the medical expenses Karen is facing are mounting. She is single, works very hard at System Scale Corp. and lives frugally on her sole salary. She has to miss work for doctor appointments and treatments. Karen is stretched beyond her means, and having to miss work for days at a time. This is starting to be a huge burden for her. We don’t know what the future will hold, but we can do our best to join together and support our beloved friend.
I am asking you to please prayerfully consider lending your financial support to our friend, co-worker, classmate and family member through this campaign. Please spread the word to your friends at our high school Alma Mater (Lonoke High school) and help raise Karen up in her time of need.
