Karbowski Santa Rosa Fire

On Sunday, October 8, 2017 around 9:00 P.M. the wind in Santa Rosa, CA was extremely strong.  Pinecones and tree limbs were dropping on the Karbowski's two decks.  At 10:52 P.M. Lois Karbowski received a text on nixel from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office that multiple fires were burning in Sonoma County.  Their lights went out around 11:00 P.M. They went to bed around 12:00 A.M. and the lights came on about 10 minutes later.  They couldn't sleep because of the wind.  At 1:21 A.M. they received a nixel that some areas were being evacuated.  At 1:37 A.M. they received a nixel that there was a mandatory evacuation.  They looked out their living room window and saw emergency vehicles in the distance driving to the top of the hill.  The sky was bright orange.  They hurriedly got dressed and had to leave immediately.  With just the clothes on their backs they got into their cars and left immediately.  In the safety of their son's home, they watched the fires on television destroy their city.  As seen in the photo, everything they have worked for and accumulated for close to 50 years is gone.  I am Lois Karbowski's sister, Joyce Rabe.  I live in Fairfield, OH.  When I learned that they lost everything, I thought of Go Fund Me to raise money for them to purchase clothing and essentials.  They were looking forward to enjoying retirement and now they have to concentrate on rebuilding  their lives.  I thank God that they and their family are safe.
