Karantaba Village Health Pavilion

Hi everyone. A lot of us post fundraisers on our Facebook for our birthdays.
Today, I'd like to do the same for a cause that is very close to my heart. As many of you know, I lived in the village of Jarra Karantaba, The Gambia for 2 years. In that time, I grew inseparable from the community and tried my best to learn about the community's greatest struggles.

After endless conversations and collaboration with the village development
committee, we realized that Jarra Karantaba desperately needed a health clinic. Women from the village would have to walk 30 minutes to the nearest health facility, which meant that oftentimes, they would simply not go. This meant that because of distance, women were missing out on critical healthcare needs like prenatal care, malnutrition checks, and vaccinations for their children. 

With the hard work and dedication of the village development committee and local leaders, we were able to build the foundations for the Karantaba Health Clinic. Family and friends from around the world helped us raise over $10,000 to build the structure and buy necessary supplies. Now, women from Karantaba are able to visit a health clinic near their homes and take care of all their healthcare needs. 

However, despite all the progress we've made, the work is not complete. The Karantaba Health Clinic still needs $5,750 to complete the roofing, painting, and tiling. Even though I've left Karantaba, I still keep in touch with my friends and family there. They asked me to help them complete the project that they started, which is why I began this Gofundme. Hopefully, if everyone donates a small amount, we'll be that much closer to completing the health clinic and providing critical medical care to the women and children of Jarra Karantaba.
