As some may know, I am a full-time, first generation, and Hmong American college student. It’s been an incredible journey with hard work, dedication, and perseverance the last 7 years. I will be graduating in May 2025 with my Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences: Radiologic Technology (also known as your future X-ray/CT technologist).

This January 2025, I have been granted an amazing opportunity to study in Thailand to explore the health of women and children during the UWinterM semester. As an opportunity to study abroad for the first time, it will help me reconnect with my identity, roots, and accepting my cultural differences. My parents were born and raised in Laos, a neighboring country of Thailand, and this also gives me the chance to visit my parent’s birthplace. In addition, it will strengthen my personal growth, patient care skills, and professional social skills as a technologist.

I will be given the opportunity to immerse in the Thai culture with activities including: Thai dance, therapeutic massage, music, cooking, candle carving, and as well as visit an elephant conservation center.
