Kamila's Graduation Fund

This is my friend’s daughter. She needs your help! I am hoping we can all contribute to this young woman’s goals and dreams. She is almost there and needs help to graduate! Here is her story.
My name is Kamila; I am a contemporary dancer and choreographer. The purpose of dance is storytelling and fostering community. Through my work, I want to do my best to carry on this legacy as both a performer and a dance-maker.
I began dancing in San Diego, CA when I was 15. I am now 21 years old and moved to New York to go to school for dance.
I am on the verge of graduating with a BFA in Dance. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, my final course overseas was canceled. To graduate, I now have to make up those courses at my school in the US this summer, where tuition is much more expensive.
I need to pay for tuition by July 1. We just found all of this out, and my mom and I are not prepared to absorb this extra cost and need some help.
From the very first ballet class that I took at 15 years old, I knew that this was my purpose in life. I also knew it was very late to start dancing. I worked hard to catch up with other dancers in my age group and made it to Adelphi University, maintained a dance scholarship, and a spot on the Dean’s list for all four years.
My grandmothers were both visual artists, and that had a significant impact on fostering my identity as a dancer. This is my passion and my life. When I dance or make choreography, I try to meet people where they are so that we can build something together.
After college, I want to be a dancer and choreographer because it adds to people’s lives and never takes away from them. I want to demonstrate that dancing is for EVERYONE to enjoy and take part in. Thank you for any help you can offer. I will be forever grateful.
