Hi, my name is Lanie, and I’m raising funds for my 18-month-old son, Kameron, who was born with tibial hemimelia—a one in a million condition where the shinbone is partially or completely missing. This condition hinders his ability to stand, walk, run and jump. Without this specialized treatment, he would require amputation, and his mobility and future independence would be at risk. Kam has already been through so much in his short life. He was born premature with a heart defect that required open heart surgery at 5 months old, he survived an emergency surgery to treat a serious intestinal infection at just one week old, and was on oxygen support for the first 3 months of his life. Kameron is a living miracle. He is a fighter and is incredibly strong and brave. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to give him a chance at a normal life with no physical limitations or burdens.

Only a few surgeons in the U.S. treat tibial hemimelia without amputating, and Kameron has been accepted for surgery at a leading pediatric orthopedic center in Florida. This procedure gives him the best chance to walk, run, play, and grow alongside his twin sister, Kaiya.

We will need to relocate temporarily for surgery and months of recovery, therapy, and follow-up care.

As his mom and only parent, I’ll be taking largely unpaid leave from work with limited income. Travel, lodging, childcare, and medical-related costs are overwhelming—but Kameron deserves every opportunity to thrive.
