Kalynn's Medical Funds

Kalynn Mitchell was ejected from a sun roof as a passenger in a  vehicle found to be  driven at 104 mph by Wood County police.  She has sustained a fractued vertebra, ribs, collar bone, and femur head. Her hip was dislocated causeing a possible need for a hip replacement down the road.  Even though these are physical injuries that will heal, the process and time taken will cause a large strain and complications for Kalynn's life now and for many years to come.  She will have to attend an in house rehabilitation facility for physical therapy.  This will take many weeks of  precious time she needed working as an mentor for AmeriCorps to 6 and 7 year olds and will replace it with   bodily and mental stress . In addition to the loss of wages from the mentor position;  Kalynn was paying for college by working as an Residant Advisor at Marshall University. This job covered room and board. To maintain this job she would have to arrive in Huntington ready to work by August 1st.  Though we have no ability to know where she will be in her recovery process by then, what we do know is that she will be in an immense amount of pain.  If this does not pan out than payment for college as well will become an issue.  Kalynn is a senior as a science education major and with these injuries the mandatory student teaching will be strenuous and take large toll on her body.   There is a possibility that her whole schooling process might end up being delayed a semester causing her to lose the scholarhsips and grants that might not be awarded to 5th year students. At the moment we are not sure what will be covered and what will not.  We will do our best to support her as much as we can but the time constraint we are under will cause problems that might not be able to be solved with care taking.  Please find it in your heart to donate and help her so that Kalynn will not have to start her life in immense debt due to this tradegy.
