Hello everyone! My name is Kaliya Kalcheva, and I am an 18 years old Bulgarian pianist. Currently I am studying in my last year at the National Music School “Lyubomir Pipkov” in Sofia, in the class of Prof. Milena Mollova.
In order to progress and continue my university music studies, I auditioned for the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York City. More than 3000 musicians applied for it this year, from which only a few were accepted, and I am one of them!!!
I have won over 15 First prizes and many special prizes at international competitions worldwide. One of my recent achievements was a First prize at the international competition “Young Virtuosos” in Sofia in 2014, where I was also awarded with the special prize for outstanding performance by EMCY(European Union of Music Competitions for Youth). I also perform regularly as a soloist with different orchestras in Europe.
The total cost of my tuition is 52 000€, due June 1st. The school granted me with a partial scholarship of 14 000€, but I still need to find the rest of the funds necessary for my tuition fee by myself. I come from a very simple background in Bulgaria, country that is a young member of the European community. It has no infrastructure to help or support its young talents as other European countries do, which makes my task much more difficult.
Please help me in fulfilling my dream of becoming a professional pianist.
